We offer private lessons and a variety of workshops to promote the safety, competence, and knowledge of all our guests. Range 54 covers a broad range of firearms and self defense classes for private citizens, professional security, and law enforcement.

Advanced Defensive Pistol
Shooters will be striking a bag, shooting from a variety of positions, and shooting in low light. Shooter will need to draw from a concealed holster and run a flashlight with the gun.

Shooting On the Move/Shooting From Cover
In a gunfight, getting to cover and using it properly may help you win the fight. This 2-hour class will focus on shooting while moving and shooting from behind cover. This is a live-fire class … not for the beginner. Minimum 4 students, maximum 8 students.

Reloading/Malfunctions/Trigger Control
This 2-hour class is for the shooter who wants to hone their skills. This is a live-fire class that will focus on malfunctions and how to fix them under stress as well as trigger control and reloading. Minimum 2 students, maximum 8 students.

Firearm Fundamentals (Intermediate Shooter Class)
This 2-hour class is for the intermediate shooter or the shooter wanting to improve on the fundamentals of grip, stance, sight alignment, sight picture, trigger control and follow through. Minimum 4 students, maximum 8 students.

Introductory Pistol & Women’s Only Introductory Pistol
This is an 8-hour beginner class to help develop an informed, responsible gun owner and shooter. We will cover how to choose a gun that’s right for you, and how it works. We will discuss ammunition, home safety, training family members, range safety, fundamentals, loading and unloading. We will then take the student to the range and practice what we learned in the classroom. Minimum 5 students, maximum 10 students:

Co-Ed Kansas Carry Concealed/Women Only CCH
Arm yourself with knowledge. All of us want to have the ability to be able to protect ourselves and the people we care about while understanding our personal responsibilities as law-abiding gun owners. Range 54 specifically created this course to accomplish these exact objectives. Our instructors are highly experienced in preparing people of all backgrounds to have the confidence, knowledge and skills to be able to safely carry a concealed handgun.
Attending Range 54’s Carry Concealed Handgun class meets the requirements of the State of Kansas to obtain a CCH license. That being said, this class is not teaching you how to shoot, but when it is legal to shoot. If you have never shot before please consider an introductory class first. In 2021 the State of Kansas passed a law allowing 18-20 year olds to obtain a CCH license. Students in that age range must bring their own gun and ammunition. The law does not allow us to rent/loan guns or sell pistol caliber ammunition to people under 21. This class will be taught in a women’s only and co-ed class for the comfort of all our students.

Drawing from Concealment
In a carry conceal class, you never get a chance to draw from where you intend to conceal. This 2-hour class will cover holsters, guns, and carry techniques. You will also learn how to draw and shoot from the holster and concealment location. This is a live-fire class where Mannequin Mike will make an appearance. Minimum 2 students, maximum 8 students.

Injured Shooter (One Handed Manipulation)
This 2-hour class will focus on what to do if your strong hand is taken out of the fight. Shooters will learn how to function and shoot their handgun in the weak hand. Minimum 2 students, maximum 8 students.

Shooting in Low Light
This 2-hour class will expose the shooter to low light conditions and give them a better understanding of how to use handheld lighting as well as weapon mounted lighting systems. The importance of target identification and alternative light sources will be discussed.

Red Dot Pistol
This 2-hour class will expose students to shooting a handgun with a mounted red dot in order to better equip students with the understanding of how to use a red dot sight.
What to bring: 100-150 Rounds Required, Your own Firearm with Weapon Mounted RDS, Preferred Holster or Concealment Garment, Good Sturdy Belt, at least 2 Magazines (Optional Mag Pouch/carrier}

Youth Firearms Training Camp: Ages 10-18
This three-day 6 hour camp is for students 10-18 years old. The class will cover firearms safety inside and outside the home. We will also cover range etiquette, safety, fundamentals, how ammunition and guns work. Participants will spend time out on the range shooting both rifles and handguns on the last day of class. The instructors are NRA or law enforcement certified firearms safety instructors. The cost is $35.00 per student. A parent or guardian of students under 18 will be required to sign a waiver.

Defending Your Spouse
This 2-hour class is for couples. Both students must be able to safely operate their own handgun. This class will focus on techniques to defend your spouse in a life-threating conflict. Minimum 2 couples, maximum 4.

Defensive Home Shotgun
In this class we will look at using a shotgun for home defense and we will cover shotgun and ammunition selection. Students will learn loading techniques, shooting from cover and how accurate the shotgun can be at close range. Only 00 buck or slug shells are allowed for range use at Range 54. Students should bring their shotgun and at least 25 rounds of buck shot and 5 rounds of slug ammo.
What to bring: Eye Pro, Ear Pro, Minimum 25 rounds of 00 buck, 5 rounds of slug.

CCH Refresher
This 3-hour course will update you on legal changes and your responsibilities. Part of your self-defense plan should include understanding what the law says you can and cannot do. If some time has passed since you took the CCH course, a refresher will ensure that you’re current on law changes and have a clear understanding of how that applies to you. Our instructors are current or retired law enforcement officers and have a great understanding of what the current laws allow. No range time.

Stop the Bleeding/First aid
This 2-hour course will cover the basic physiology of blood loss and its effects on the human body. Students will also gain practical experience in the different types and placement of tourniquets on extremities while learning how to control bleeding through the use of hemostatic agents.

Pepper Spray
This 2-hour course will provide the student with the appropriate general knowledge to confidently and legally use chemical irritants for personal protection. We’ll discuss the history of chemical irritants, safe use, best practices and practical application scenarios. Students will benefit from lecture, discussion and practice how to best use chemical irritants in self-defense scenarios from highly experienced instructors with first-hand experience. We will also discuss threat identification, medical considerations, decontamination and more. No pepper spray will be discharged, but an inert product will be supplemented for training purposes.

Taser
TASERs instantly incapacitate an attacker allowing the user a substantial escape window. Now, this technology is available to everyone. TASERs are legal in the state of Kansas without a need for licensing.
This 4-hour course will focus on the use of TASER in a civilian self-defense application. This course will cover topics such as KS Legal Application, TASER General Knowledge, Features of the TASER Pulse+, Pain Compliance vs. Incapacitation, TASERs in the Spectrum of Force Application, Medical Issues/Safe Application, and Safe Operation. Students who complete the live-fire portion of the class will receive a Certificate of Completion certifying them as a Trained Civilian Taser Operator.

Women’s Only Unarmed Defense Class
This 4-hour class will focus on self defense and is offered for women only. The student will learn the proper mindset required to avoid becoming a victim and avoid-and-escape techniques.

Weapon Retention
Weapon Retention is a non-shooting 2 hour class. Students will receive instruction and techniques on how to retain their handgun while it is in the concealed holster and while it is drawn. This is a physical class, and students should expect physical contact from the instructor and other students. Classroom only

LEOSA
Receive your LEOSA credentials from State Certified Law Enforcement Firearms Instructors. This class will be conducted quarterly or call for an appointment.

Armed Professional
At Range 54, we conduct training for armed professionals working in Law Enforcement, Security, and Private Investigations. Several of our instructors are State or NRA certified Law Enforcement Firearms Instructors. This training must be set up through your agency.

Church Security

EDC Shoot
This is not a class but a competition. This 4-hour competition will expose the shooter to shooting while moving, shooting weak handed, shooting on the move, shooting in low light, and drawing from where you carry. Scenarios will be different every event. Score will be IDPA style hits, plus time. Equipment needed: your everyday carry, preferred holster or concealment garment, sturdy belt, at least two magazines; magazine pouch optional.

Basic Carbine
This class will cover the operation and maintenance of the carbine. We will discuss shooting positions, and students will shoot while moving, from cover, multiple targets, and moving targets.
What to bring: AR variant or pistol caliber carbine, 300 rounds of ammo.

Carbine 2
We will focus on numerous critical skills such as rifle to pistol transitions, target transitions, shooting on the move, reloading and a few more. This will be a faster pace class that is centered around CQB type of shooting and tactics. Students will be engaging targets from 5 to 25 yards which will help learn their individual optic offset at various distances.
What to bring: A rifle with a sling and 3 magazines. A pistol with a holster, sturdy belt, and 2 magazines. 150 rounds of ammunition needed for rifle and 50 rounds for pistol.

Handgun Cleaning
This 2-hour course will cover the basic cleaning and maintenance process for your specific firearm. Students will learn how to disassemble, clean lubricate and reassemble their gun. Cleaning materials will be included for your use in this class.
